I thought I'd share some video taken at Netroots Nation, where several dozen volunteers organized and packed over 300 care packages for US soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq. In the video, Kossack TexDem explained how on a Saturday afternoon in a very busy convention we came to be putting comics, hand sanitizer, gloves, tampons, a scarf, snacks, and lots more in boxes headed overseas.
Some video of the actual care package assembly follows TexDem's remarks.
If you look at the video carefully, you'll notice some Daily Kos frontpagers like Bill in Portland Maine and Meteor Blades (two of my favorites.) The frontpagers weren't the only ones deserving of recognition. In particular, blue jersey mom was really helpful and encouraging, always handy with packaging tape when I needed to seal my box.
I'm looking forward to taking part in the care package assembly again next year!
